Hi Gail,
We are back home now and settling down to work again after such a wonderful holiday. Thank you for all the arrangements you made. Everything turned out fine without a hitch (except for the odd flat tire) and we reached Bethesda Saturday night. The last couple of days were harder and took longer that we thought because of the mud but we managed. Both bed and breakfasts after Cumberland were great and the hosts were very helpful. Darlene, who was delightful, met us with a hose to clean our bikes and after the rain on Friday Chris opened up his lodge to 4 dirty people and bikes and looked after us well. All of the restaurants you arranged for us were good and the lunches more than kept us going when there wasn't much of an alternative along the path.
The hotel in Bethesda was a perfect place to stay with lots of great restaurants around and a quick subway ride into Washington. Also, very easy to get to by bicycle. We enjoyed very much having dinner with you and Steve. Thank you for your hospitality and planning.

We did it!! Thanks for everything. Our trip was just wonderful. All the accommodations were great (as well as the hosts). Charles was our guardian angel, and even the weather was pretty cooperative! We are considering the GAP...

On behalf of Randy and our entire family who participated in the birthday bike tour, thanks for an extremely well planned and fun filled birthday bike tour. We all commented that the mileage was exactly planned right and the accommodations excellent. The trail was beautiful and although we missed lunch and had it later than planned, I think it actually helped us all finish 60 miles the first day.
